KUALA LUMPUR: Sun PhuQuoc Airways will launch a new daily direct service between Kuala Lumpur and Phu Quoc, Vietnam, from Sept 1, 2026, marking another milestone in the airline's Southeast Asian expansion while enhancing tourism and travel connectivity between Malaysia and Vietnam.

The new route will operate one daily return flight, making Malaysia the seventh international market served directly by the carrier.

The flight, with a journey time of approximately one hour and 35 minutes, will depart Phu Quoc International Airport at 1.45pm and arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 4.20pm. The return service will leave Kuala Lumpur at 5.20pm, arriving in Phu Quoc at 5.55pm. All times are local.

Malaysia is regarded as one of Phu Quoc's fastest-growing international tourism markets, while Kuala Lumpur remains one of Southeast Asia's leading aviation hubs, offering extensive regional and long-haul connections.

The new service is expected to boost two-way tourism, facilitate business and leisure travel, and attract more international transit passengers connecting through Kuala Lumpur.

As part of its broader growth strategy, Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans to expand its international network further throughout 2026 by launching new routes to destinations across Northeast Asia, India, Russia and the Middle East, while strengthening connectivity between Vietnam's key economic centres and tourism destinations.

The airline also aims to grow its fleet to 32 aircraft by the end of 2026, supporting its network expansion plans and reinforcing its commitment to delivering a five-star international travel experience.
